Magnesium borate minerals, which are a subclass of boron minerals, are inorganic compounds containing magnesium and boron.
In this study, the low temperature (0-70[degrees]C) synthesis of a specific kind of magnesium borate mineral, namely, mcallisterite, is aimed.
Products of the synthesis were determined to be mcallisterite [[Mg.sub.2]([B.sub.6][O.sub.7][[(OH).sub.6]).sub.2] x 9[H.sub.2]O] (pdf 01-070-1902), admontite [MgO([B.sub.2][O.sub.3])3 x 7[H.sub.2]O] (pdf 01-076-0540), and magnesium borate hydrate [Mg[B.sub.6][O.sub.7][(OH).sub.6] x 3([H.sub.2]O)] (pdf 01-073-0638).
