Specifically, the bill: repeals the requirements that a unit owner purchase individual unit insurance coverage and name the association as an additional insured; extends the requirement that a condominium building greater than 75 feet in height retrofit common areas with sprinklers from 2014 to 2025; provides a limited exception to a current building code requirement whereby a one- or two-story condominium with external means of egress is exempt from having to install a manual fire alarm system; and repeals the requirement that a multifamily structure of 75 feet or higher must have, or contract for the lease of, a generator that can operate an elevator during an emergency.
