manual radio direction finder[′man·yə·wəl ′rād·ē·ō di′rek·shən ‚fīn·dər]
A radio direction finder which requires manual rotation of an antenna or goniometer, in contrast with an automatic radio direction finder, which indicates automatically and continuously the great-circle direction of the transmitter to which it is tuned. Also known as manual direction finder.
