One of the edible Four O’clocks Rich colored pink-purple 5-lobed funnel-shaped flowers that grows in clumps 3ft (1m) across. Flowers open late afternoon, stay open al night and close in morning. Smooth, opposite, dark green heart-shaped leaves. Has a huge thick root, up to 1 foot wide (30cm), which can be powdered and used as food. Also used for stomach complaints, reduces appetite. Too much may cause intoxication.
