marginal sinus

[′mär·jən·əl ′sī·nəs]
(anatomy)
One of the small, bilateral sinuses of the dura mater which skirt the edge of the foramen magnum, usually uniting posteriorly to form the occipital sinus.
(embryology)
An enlarged venous sinus incompletely encircling the margin of the placenta.
