I would love to see Voyager 4's Time panel simultaneously show Local Mean Solar Time, Local Apparent Solar Time, Zone Time, Universal Time, and Local Mean Sidereal Time
. Clearly displaying these variations of time reckoning would help people understand why and how they are used, which is important to me as an astronomy teacher.
The celestial coordinate of right ascension (R.A.) is in fact "local mean sidereal time
." Thus, if you know the sidereal time, you know what R.A.
MTT = RA - GMST at [0.sup.h] Next Day, where RA is the star's right ascension and GMST is the Greenwich Mean Sidereal Time
at [0.sup.h] Universal Time on the next day.
