momental ellipsoid

(mechanics)
An inertia ellipsoid whose size is specified to be such that the tip of the angular velocity vector of a freely rotating object, with origin at the center of the ellipsoid, always lies on the ellipsoid's surface. Also known as energy ellipsoid.
