native DSD

native DSD

A high-resolution audio file in the Direct Stream Digital format. The "native" refers to DSD-encoded music in a file rather than on an SACD disc, which was how DSD was introduced to the public in the late 1990s. See DSD, SACD and high-resolution audio.
