nvSRAM

(Non-Volatile SRAM) Static RAM (SRAM) memory that is backed up to non-volatile memory in the event of a power failure. nvSRAM uses regular SRAM for reading and writing data. When power is lost, capacitors have enough charge to transfer the contents of SRAM cells to non-volatile flash memory. Cypress Semiconductor makes a variety of nvSRAM memory products. See NVRAM, BBSRAM and SSD.

The companies have also agreed to broad manufacturing support terms that will provide Simtek with a range of industry-leading manufacturing skills and know-how to enable cost-effective manufacturing of leading-edge SONOS nvSRAMs, Simtek said.
When the loss-of-power event has passed and the system is ready to resume normal operation, the nvSRAM automatically copies the contents of the EEPROM back to the SRAM and restores it to the state that existed prior to the power failure.
Intended for mission-critical applications, the nvSRAMS feature low access times and infinite read, write and recall cycles.
