* Urethane adhesive is a
one-part adhesive offering the strength of an epoxy without mixing.
Several room-temperature-vulcanizing (RTV) elastomeric silicones, a
one-part adhesive and a two-part adhesive, have been used successfully to bond together fascias and beams of both injection-and blow-molded thermoplastic bumper systems.
Rise in demand for
one-part adhesives can be ascribed to its freedom of application offering high efficiency and lesser time for cure compared to two-part composite adhesives.
One-part adhesives are available in a liquid form uncured where the viscosity can be optimized to have high flow to coat complex geometries, or low flow if applied to a vertical surface or to control migration of the adhesive prior to cure.
The adhesive UR-1100 was shown to be superior over other
one-part adhesives, in addition to a room temperature curable Adiprene based adhesive.
