The Fengtai metallogenic area is located in the central part of the western Qinling orogenic belt. In the Fengtai metallogenic area (Figure 2), there are many polymetallic ore deposits, in the Bafangshan-Erlihe, Bijiashan, Dengjiashan, Qiandongshan, Yinmusi, Shoubanya, and Fengya areas.
The area occupies part of the transition zone between Arkoma Basin and Ouachita orogenic belt. The leading thrust of the Ouachita orogenic belt, Choctaw fault, separates two different stratigraphic and structural styles.

The Dabashan thrust nappe structure at the southern margin of the Qinling orogenic belt suffered at least two stages of evolution which are Late Triassic plate subduction collisional orogeny between North China block, Qinling micro-plate and Yangtze block followed by intracontinental orogeny since the Meso-Cenozoic.
