thailandicum has smaller ostiolar discs (1-2 mm vs 0.28-0.35 mm), whereas A.
Ventral coloration: head, rostral segments I to IV, thorax, ostiolar peritreme, coxae, trochanters, femora, tibiae, and genital capsule black to dark reddish-brown; tarsi dark reddish-brown with basal segment dark yellow; abdominal sterna black to dark reddish-brown except middle third of abdominal sterna III and IV, and anterior margin yellow.
It differs from Sthenaridea by the more elongate body, the strongly campanulate pronotum with a quadrate velvety patch on each callus, the shape of the ostiolar scent gland auricle lacking a distinct knob dorsally at the end of the scent channel, and the simple S-shaped endosoma.
Oval species: head concave posteriorly, posterior margin of head concave, eyes touching anterior pronotal margin; pronotum trapeziform, lateral margins straight, surface of uniform texture, lacking a velvety patch on each callus; ostiolar auricle with a distinct knob dorsally at end of scent channel Sthenaridea Reuter
(4) Ostiolar peritreme yellowish white to pale brown, suffused or not with yellow marks.
Acording to Henry's (1997a) phylogenetic hypothesis, the Hoplinini can be divided into two clades: one including Hoplinus Stal, Phaconotus Harris, Oedalocanthus Henry and Pronotacantha Uhler that possess a ventrally extended evaporative area, and a second clade comprising Diabolonotus Henry, Xenoloma Harris, Metajalysus Stusak and Parajalysus Distant with ostiolar area reduced to a circular swollen area near the middle of metapleural area.
