pampero

(meteorology)
A wind of gale force blowing from the southwest across the pampas of Argentina and Uruguay, often accompanied by squalls, thundershowers, and a sudden drop of temperature; it is comparable to the norther of the plains of the United States.

Pampero

 

a cold storm wind of southerly direction in Argentina and Uruguay, sometimes accompanied by rains or thunderstorms. It is connected with the passing of cold fronts and intrusions of antarctic air.

pampero

A northwest squall blowing over and from the pampas of South America. It is most prevalent from July to September off the coast of Argentina.
