If most structural changes in Aedes chromosomes are the product of centromeric translocations and paracentric inversions, we would expect to find blocks of genes corresponding to intact chromosomal elements.
The loci within the linkage groups have been rearranged primarily by paracentric inversions. Examples of pericentric inversions, partial-arm translocations, or multiple translocation/inversion events were observed less frequently.
