perspective projections
A typical perspective grid superimposed on a photograph.
perspective projections
In the above perspective projection, the light source is at north pole; it projects the meridians and parallels onto a plane tangential at the south pole.
The projections in which the shadows cast by the meridians and the parallels of latitude of a transparent model of the earth are drawn onto a plane surface. When the relationship is such that simple nongeometric construction is impossible, a nonperspective projection is used. The majority of map projections are nonperspective.

The perspective projections for each GFOV were produced by placing the COP at varying distances from the display screen.
Another parameter of perspective projection to receive attention from investigators is the display geometric field of view (GFOV) and its relation to field of view (FOV).
As far as it is possible to ascertain from the viewing parameters stated in their paper, the 60[degrees] GFOV was the closest of their GFOV conditions to a veridical perspective projection of the scene.
McGreevy and Ellis (1986) used a viewpoint elevation of 22[degrees]; hence the depth compression produced by the perspective projection affected both elevation and azimuth dimensions.
The implementation of the CAVE interface requires computation of viewer-centered perspective projections, deployment of viewer tracking equipment, synchronization of displays, and overcoming any resulting projector and tracking limitations.
The CAVE requires special perspective projections to simulate viewer-centered perspective.
The viewer-centered perspective, as well as the projections used for stereo, are derived from the off-axis perspective projection [7].
The currently available graphics cards are fine tuned to rapidly render perspective projections and handle several million polygons per second.
