Petechia

 

a tiny hemorrhage in the skin or mucous membranes that results from injury to capillary walls or from thrombocytopenia of varied origin. Petechia arises in hemorrhagic diathesis, leukosis, and certain infectious diseases, including epidemic typhus, scarlet fever, and sepses.
