Phase Difference

the difference between the initial phases of quantities that are varying sinusoidally with the same frequency. Phase difference is measured in degrees, radians, or fractions of a period. The phase difference between voltage and current is of great practical importance in electrical engineering; it determines the power factor in alternating-current circuits.

For conventional phased array antennas, it can achieve continuous beam synthesis because of its flexible and continuous phase shifters, where the phase difference between the adjacent elements is related to the beam deviation.
Consequently, to overcome these problems, a symmetrical voltage multiplier (SVM) was developed by Heilpern in 1954 by adding an extra oscillating column of capacitors and a stack of rectifiers [1, 13] Because voltage ripple in a half-wave rectifier due to the charge and discharge of capacitors has almost a triangular-like shape, by using two voltage sources with 180[degrees] phase difference, the overall voltage ripple magnitude can be reduced greatly.
The phase difference of two synthetic aperture radar (SAR) images acquired for the same scene but at different sensor positions offers the possibility of constructing the topography and detecting the displacement of the surface [1].
And a typical situation is that the phase difference [DELTA][theta] corresponding to the resonant point of a passive sensor will decrease at elevated temperatures due to the degraded Q factor of the LC resonator, which will make tracking the frequencies [f.sub.1min] and [f.sub.2min] harder, and will eventually make it impossible for the sensor to work in higher-temperature environment.

This parallel measurement capability assures that vibration data can be analyzed at the same instant in time without the time lapse and phase difference of multiplexed systems.
"If so, it then seems like the impact on phase difference between the recombinant beams would net out to zero phase shift.
The successive symbols in the pair can have a phase difference of 90[degrees] or 180[degrees].
