pilot automatic telephone weather answering service (PATWAS)
A continuous telephone recording containing current weather information for pilots. The service is used in Alaska now for standard routing and weather information. In the rest of the United States, TIBS, or terminal information broadcast system, gives similar information but is more modernized.
