In a single polling cycle in UDBA, each queue is polled once and the bandwidth allocation is based on demand.
However, as the load increases, the queue size of each traffic in local priority DBA algorithms becomes larger, making it harder for the packets in the lower-priority traffic streams to enter the second stage FIFO queue since it can only carry the packets from higher-priority queues in each polling cycle.
Furthermore, with high traffic load, some of the packets from the lower-priority traffic streams could stay in the FIFO queue waiting for the transmission in the next polling cycle. These packets can delay the transmission of the packets from the higher-priority traffic in the next polling cycle resulting in higher delay to the higher-priority traffic.
We will refer to this cycle as the polling cycle. It is obvious that [D.sup.max.sub.i] [less than or equal to] M, and some slaves can be polled more than once.
The average throughput over link [L.sub.i,j] in a polling cycle can be represented with [p.sup.j.sub.i]; formula (2) can be rewritten as
Some digital spread spectrum radios can bring back real-time alarms during the middle of a polling cycle. The alarm packet slides through on the hopping cycle between packets of flow data.
WhatsUp Gold will alert on events that occur outside of a normal polling cycle such as security breaches, and system or application level failures that are the logged to the Windows Events Log, Syslog and SNMP Trap Log.
To enable the administrator to provide quick response, alarms communicate immediately and directly to the Management Control Center via TCP/IP or X.25 without waiting on the preset polling cycle. Alarms can be set on a server-by-server basis, for administrative flexibility.
The larger the field and gathering system, the longer the polling cycles. What should operators be installing on new wells and other facilities?
Separating applications to operate from dedicated front-end ports and dedicated diagnostic-modem ports enables you to shorten polling tables and polling cycles per application.
