Poplin

a plain-weave fabric having cross ribs produced by using warp yarns that are finer than the filling yarns. Poplin is usually made from cotton or chemical fibers; less often natural silk is used for the warp, and wool is used as the filling. The density at the warp is 1½ or two times higher than at the filling. Poplin may be bleached, uniformly dyed, or printed.
