desert almond

Similar to normal almonds but more concentrated cyanide compounds. Shrubby bush with small white flowers along the entire length of branches, which have tiny green leaves. Small almond-shaped fuzzy fruits. Edible if only eating a few. In small quantities, hydrogen cyanide has been shown to increase respiration, improve digestion, fight cancer and make people feel good. Overconsumption however can lead to respiratory failure and possible death. But normal consumption should be no problem. Indians used to eat these as a delicacy.
