pyrochord

pyrochord

A nonresetting type of fire detector. It consists of a switch body installed behind a firewall and a detector element, which contains a pyrotechnic and is located in the fire zone. When the detector element reaches its designed operating temperature, the pyrotechnic wick ignites, completing the electrical circuit that illuminates the fire-warning lamp.
