Variable throughput will generate burst lengths ranging from 1.5 [Mu] sec for the reference burst only, to 229.4 [Mu] s for a maximum of 200 Mbps throughput plus preamble, reference burst and overhead.
Actual implementation of the LET data burst has dual rate SMSK modulators turned on one-half clock cycle before transmission of the TDMA frame reference burst. Before the reference burst is present at the modulator, the output signal from the modulator appears as noise on the carrier.
The LET burst structure is such that the first five words of the burst is the reference burst. Unsuccessful acquisition of the reference burst means that the demodulators are not synchronized with the TDMA burst frame and thus the information will be lost.
