relight(redirected from relighted)
Also found in: Dictionary.
To restart combustion in a gas turbine engine after it has flamed out in the air. For relighting, the complete starting system does not come into operation. The engine must be wind-milling at the minimum RPM for that height; a minimum speed is specified in the pilot's manual for this purpose. The pilot needs to ensure that the fuel supply is on and the ignition is on until the idling RPM for that height is reached.
