roll damper

roll damper

Dampers provided on ailerons or on differential spoilers. Their purpose is to either prevent dutch rolling or to dampen wing oscillations in turbulent conditions. These dampers sense the roll rate from the roll-rate gyro of the autopilot, inducing small aileron deflections to compensate for this condition.
