"
Roller Bites. Good quality product, easy to prepare at a competitive retail."
Although based in Koping, Sweden, and consolidated within Sandvik Mining and Construction business area, Lars Hillberg, product manager for
roller bits said during a press conference in London, that Sandvik Smith will act as an independent company.
Run in rock ranging from soft to medium-hard rhyolite, basalt and granite, the average footage of the new bits was some 33% greater than other polycrystalline products and 500% greater than
roller bits. Penetration rates of the new bits were equal to ChrisDril bits set with standard cutters and some four to five times faster than button-type
roller bits.
The Rock-It operates at high torque with a slower speed that is more compatible with
roller bits. The higher torque rating results in a faster penetration rate with reserve power for the hard spots.
