runway gradient

runway gradient

The average slope, expressed as a percentage, between two ends or points on a runway. It is the difference in elevation between two ends divided by the runway length, provided there are no intervening points or the runway profile lies more than five feet above or below a straight line joining the two ends of the runway. In excess of five feet, the runway profile is segmented, and aircraft data are applied for each segment separately.

To do the math, you must first convert runway gradient from percent slope to an angle in degrees and then solve the formula [DELTA]v=[check]2 sin o [DELTA]h.
