sacral vertebrae
[′sak·rəl ′vərd·ə‚brā] (anatomy)
Three to five fused vertebrae that form the sacrum in most mammals; amphibians have one sacral vertebra, reptiles usually have two, and birds have 10-23 fused in the synsacrum.
