salvadorensis has distinctive anatomical features that facilitate its identification; its rays are larger, commonly 4-10 seriate, than the rays of other Cedrela species, which are 1-3 seriate in width.
The rays qualify as Heterogeneous Type IIB of Kribs (1937), perhaps transitional to Homogeneous Type II, in which all cells are procumbent and all rays are multi seriate.
