session key

A temporary key used to encrypt data for only the current session. The use of session keys keeps the secret keys even more secret because they are not used directly to encrypt the data. The secret keys are used to derive the session keys using various methods that combine random numbers from either the client or server or both. See key management and security protocol.

After inputting params as well as an intended receiver set S [??] {[ID.sub.1], [ID.sub.2],..., [ID.sub.N]}, the algorithm produces (Hdr, K), in which Hdr is often called as broadcast header while K is a session key used in a symmetric encryption algorithm.

The network session key is known only to the end points and the local network, while the application session key is only known to the end point and end sensor application.
The Man-In-The-Middle attack is the major threat for handheld devices to agree a session key in which they do not share any prior secret in advance, even if these devices are physically located in the same place.

The node N generates a nonce [n.sub.N] and encrypts both the nonce and its identity with the session key [SK.sub.N].

In our scheme, a network server and an application server generate a network session key (NwThSKey) and an application session key (App_SKey), respectively, so that each layer works completely independently.

For example, the SecOC module provides functionality to enable MAC generation and verification for in-vehicle CAN communication [1.] There are some APIs for key management in AUTOSAR CSM such as key derivation and key generation [6.] However, there is at this time no clearly defined APIs for, e.g., key distribution, session key activation and loading keys into key storage.
Firstly, there is only one-round communication to agree on a session key between two entities.
