Sit’

 

a river in Kalinin and Yaroslavl oblasts, RSFSR. The Sit’ is 159 km long and drains an area of 1,900 sq km. It rises in the Bezhetskii Verkh upland and empties into the Rybinsk Reservoir. It is fed predominantly by snow. The mean flow rate 19 km from the mouth is 13.4 cu m per sec. The Sit’ freezes between November and the first half of December, and the ice breaks up in April.
