A spherical dome with a square base.

A vault, 1 composed of four quarter-cylindrical surfaces or coves, meeting in vertical diagonal planes, the axial sections of the vault being arched, and the horizontal courses diminishing in length from spring to crown. (See illustration p. 272.)
