The unit of electric potential and electromotive force in the electrostatic centimeter-gram-second system of units, equal to the potential difference between two points such that the work required to transport 1 statcoulomb of electric charge from one to the other is equal to 1 erg; equal to approximately 299.79 volts. Abbreviated statV.
