As expected, a collision may occur, and subnet number
with a higher index substitutes for a subnet with a lower index based on the processing order of the nodes.
The same applies in a Layer 3 switch; it looks at the globally unique destination IP subnet number
or IPX network number in order to forward traffic.
After subnetting is put in effect for a given network, individual LANs can be given their own subnet number
