Tail rotor mechanism.
A rotor turning in a plane perpendicular to the main rotor of the helicopter and parallel to the horizontal axis of the fuselage. A tail rotor counters the torque of the main rotor and thus enables directional control of the helicopter in both the engine-on and engine-off conditions.
