The throat velocity
of the air passing through the nozzle was determined by measuring the static pressure drop across the nozzle using four static pressure taps, each 1 mm in diameter and located flush with the inner wall of the nozzle, and by using a water manometer with an accuracy of [+ or -]0.5 mm.
The polluted gas stream is accelerated to the desired maximum throat velocity in the converging entrance section of the Venturi scrubbers.
Then by using these values a correlation has been developed for eddy diffusivity as a function of operating parameters such as gas throat velocity, liquid jet penetration length and axial distance from injection point.
