total harmonic distortion

[′tōd·əl här′män·ik di′stȯr·shən]
(electronics)
Ratio of the power at the fundamental frequency, measured at the output of the transmission system considered, to the power of all harmonics observed at the output of the system because of its nonlinearity, when a single frequency signal of specified power is applied to the input of the system; it is expressed in decibels.

Another notable feature of the 'SmartOnline' range is its low production of Total Harmonic Distortion (THDi), which is at a minimal 5 per cent, thereby enabling a 1:1 sizing of the UPS system to a generator set.
In line-operated systems with power levels from 75 W to 1kW and above, the UCC28070 helps reduce total harmonic distortion, allowing today's systems to better maximize usable outlet power and accommodate extreme variations and disturbances in various AC line voltage levels used around the world.
