The low score on the transcendence dimension from Van Knippenberg's model may be related to a diagnosis of impaired spirituality; references stated that incapability of experiencing transcendence is one of the defining characteristics of that state (De Cassia Lopes Chaves, Campos de Carvalho, De Souza Terra, & De Souza, 2010).
The transcendence dimension of spirituality may be a good predictor of coping behaviors for people who are visually impaired of all ages; this relationship could be examined in the future.
