Additional structural innovations, according to Andersen officials, involved a major transfer girder
at the seventh-floor deck to carry an inverted column.
Four feet deep transfer girders
were required at the second floor to widen the entry into the cast-in-place-reinforced concrete garage and first floor parking area.
It will also examine the critical role of pivotal components, such as transfer girders
and floor diaphragms, and the mechanical and metallurgical behavior of many different grades of structural steel under fires.
"To give them a clear span, we put two transfer girders
-- one on the first floor and one of the second floor," says Abrol.
