A terminal portion of a procarp or archicarp which receives a spermatium.

Trichogyne

 

the upper, elongated (tubular) part of the female sex organ of red algae (seeCARPOGONIUM) and many ascomycetoüs fungi. The trichogyne is the receptacle for the male gametes, or spermatia.
