The pictorial representation of the form or shape of a wave, obtained by plotting the displacement of the wave as a function of time, at a fixed point in space.

waveform

The shape of an audible or electronic signal. On an oscilloscope, analog waveforms show up as smooth curved lines that rise and fall (sine waves), while digital waveforms appear as square-shaped vertical and horizontal lines. See wavelength, sine wave and square wave.
