Whether the tuning capacitor is a rotary (air or vacuum variable) or made of individually switched components operation is much easier if adjusting the loop tuning capacitance for loop resonance is done automatically.
Assuming the loop-tuning mechanism balances the inductive reactance of the loop itself with the capacitive reactance of the tuning capacitor, then the feedpoint impedance of the loop is the radiation resistance plus the loss resistance.
If the connections are kept to a minimum and well-made the main loss is in the tuning capacitor and in the skin-effect resistance of the loop material itself.
To sum up, as the antenna becomes smaller, its bandwidth decreases and the tuning capacitor
needs to have better characteristics in order to cope with the increased fields.
The measured resonant frequencies are [f.sub.1] = 57.75 MHz and [f.sub.2] = 42 MHz where the tuning capacitor
is [C.sub.t] = 47 pF.
By adjusting the value of the BST tuning capacitor
in relation to the monoblock's intrinsic capacitance, the optimum trade-off between frequency tuning range and insertion loss can be chosen.
The growth of varactor diodes or tuning capacitors
is directly proportional to the rising use of radars, as radars contain VCOs, and these VCOs ultimately contain varactor diodes.
The frequency sweeping experiments on a fabricated gyroscope prototype prove that frequency tuning of the work modes is achieved by adjusting the size of support beams as well as by manually controlling the voltage applied on the tuning capacitors. The team also issued a RFP for prototype high-current and high-voltage tuning capacitors
. In addition, a prototype was designed to evaluate the "guided radar" method of are detection for use inside ICH transmission lines.
