Vagotonin

 

a protein substance, possibly hormonal, isolated from extracts of the pancreas. Vagotonin increases the tone of the vagus nerve (hence the name); that is, it intensifies the activity of the parasympathetic division of the autonomic nervous system and stimulates hematogenesis.
