virtual machine snapshotSaving an instance of a virtual machine to disk in order to return to that point at a later time. Snapshots are taken for backup as well as for duplication to other servers. The content of memory, virtual disks and virtual interface cards, as well as all virtual machine settings, are stored. See virtual machine and snapshot.
