virtual marketplace

An online shopping site. The term is often used to refer to third parties selling wares under the umbrella of a major online site like Amazon. Also called an "e-commerce marketplace," such markets provide the website, shopping cart, return labels and related services for the vendor, which may or may not have its own e-commerce website.
