The new subvertical shaft, or winze, will be accessed via the existing shaft starting at roughly the 1,200-m level.
The first 700 metres of the winze will be raisebored down to the 1,900-metre level and then slashed and extended beyond that to the 2,650-metre level using conventional shaft sinking technology.
"The limitations are the cost and planning involved to manufacture various sized panels with a solid frame and blocking, allowing for traditional hardware and fastening methods to be used," says Winze. "This presents a barrier for those who can justify using these materials.
The investment project now under way at Musselwhite will enable hoisting of ore through a winze, significantly reducing uphill truck haulage and leading to improved energy efficiency, reduced ventilation requirements, reduced mining costs, enhanced production profile, and potential to extend mine life through exploration success.
The crystals were found embedded in limonite in a winze off of the main inclined shaft.
It was never completed to its planned depth, which resulted in the bottom of the deposit being mined through an internal winze. Underground development began at Husky in 1970 and production commenced in 1972.
Most guides to the assessment and treatment of sexual dysfunctions are based on the DSM classifications (for example, see Winze & Carey, 2001).
Production continues to be supported by access to resources below the 750m level through the development of a second decline into the AR Main ore body as well as through the current decline at AR South and through the 6 Winze shaft.
As an example, the Hoyle Deep project consists of material-handling improvements combined with a new internal shaft (winze), which will allow the mine to expand production by 40% over time.
The completion of the first phase of an internal winze (internal shaft) has allowed deeper access to the high-grade ore to depths below 1,000 metres.
Mapping in winze #2-4 and underground diamond drilling from level 3 indicate at least two closely spaced faults with upward throws of 5 and 8 m to the west, intersecting level 4 near section 4875N.
