Work Area

 

the portion of a work place that is restricted by angles of sight, the range of human movements, and the posture assumed by the operator or group of operators while working. Work areas are classified as optimum, convenient, and critical with respect to reach. The proper determination of a work area zone is an important requirement for the efficient organization of a work place. The most crucial and frequently used instruments and indicators are generally in the optimum zone of vision, and control devices, instruments, and components are in the zones of optimum or convenient reach.
