World Time

world time

a conception of time, introduced by Eberhard (1965), which emphasizes the way in which the conjuncture of types of society existing at a specific time or period in history profoundly affects the context and outcome of action and developments in particular societies. The importance of this notion is that it suggests that those theories which propose that all individual societies move through a single set sequence of evolutionary stages are wrong.
