To provide livelihood for the people of the municipality, the local government has spearheaded the production of Aroma Anao, a perfume made with ylang-ylang oil. These days, the town also produces air fresheners, candles, bath soaps, and even shampoo based on the fragrant flower, sold through the town's display center and sometimes in fair trades around Luzon.
Ylang-ylang oil is used in perfume, candles, bath soaps, shampoo and even air fresheners.
Ingredients: 10ml jojoba oil, 7 drops ylang-ylang oil, 6 drops cedar oil, 3 drops geranium oil, 4 drops orange oil, 2 drops vanilla abstract.
It aims to make Anao the 'top producer of export-grade ylang-ylang oil in the country,' a press statement said.
The new formula includes seven materials sourced from the brand's Sustainable Lush Fund (SLush Fund) projects: Rosewood oil from Peru; ylang-ylang oil from Swedru, Ghana; geranium oil from Nanyuki, Kenya, for the fragrance; fresh aloe leaves, also from Kenya; moringa oil from Techiman, Ghana; fair trade shea butter from Ghana; and fair trade organic cocoa butter from Colombia.
Once known as the world's biggest source of the finest ylang-ylang oil, the Philippines through the years has diminished its production of this essential ingredient in making perfume.
