In this manner, then, ecopedagogy seeks to mount a form of posthuman cultural studies in accordance with the normative demands made by a revolutionary zoophilia.
Zoophilia may be a seductive, sometimes droll construct, but in this novel it appears truer to nature.
This alternative scheme (presented in parentheses above) yields a sequence in which the homophiliac aspect of Titania's fondness for the page is in fact displaced, in her relationship with Bottom, onto the category of zoophilia. If, then, we return to the more complex graphing that identifies fairy-human dalliance as cross-species (or at least, following Hendricks, as cross-race), we are still left with a doubling of the cross-species bond in the case of Bottom, and this doubling once again serves as a transposition of Titania's homosocial attachment to the page's mother.
A systematic consideration of the benefits and costs of animal rights would require attention to many other factors, such as, on the benefits side, the (unproven) possibility that reducing violence toward animals may make human beings less violent to each other,(20) and, on the costs side, both the reciprocal concern that equating humans to animals will make us less considerate of human rights (remember Hitler's zoophilia) and the concern that attention to animal rights may deflect our attention from human poverty, deprivation, and misery--including the human diseases that medical experimentation on animals may enable to be cured sooner than might otherwise be the case.
One such site, "The First Church of Zoophilia," offers to perform marriage ceremonies between adherents of the church and the animals they love.
On the other hand, it is not at all clear that, if we were to make a similar discovery with regard to, say, necrophilia or zoophilia, we would be as ready to declassify it as perversion and come to think of it as but another unproblematic sexual orientation.
Though we live in a world haunted by the prospect of environmental calamity, the DSM makes only one reference to the nonhuman world--a listing for the neurosis called "zoophilia," having sex with animals.
For 2014, it was Sweden that was the latest country to ban zoophilia, another term describing sex with animals.
